Discover the mystery of the Atlantida Cave in Khmelnytskyi region

The Atlantida Cave is a stunning tourist attraction located in the Khmelnytskyi region, 24 km away from the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, near the village of Zavallia. The village of Zavallia got its name for a reason - local residents often suffered from constant landslides in the area. The reason for the catastrophes in these places was the vulnerable castrovian rock. For centuries, the waters of the Zbruch River washed away the rock, creating voids in the bowels of the earth, which in turn caused unpleasant surprises for the locals.

In the 1950s, a quarry was established here where gypsum was mined for some time. But over time, it was closed down as the object was deemed unprofitable and too many voids were discovered. In 1968, this unique landmark was opened as a tourist attraction. Atlantis was added to the list of geological natural landmarks of the Khmelnytskyi region, and the cave became an integral part and pride of the National Natural Park "Podilski Tovtry".

At the intersection of the first and second levels, you will discover a beautiful spacious hall with a height of 12 meters. The third level consists of two not very large passages with a height of 5 meters.

In the unlit underground kingdom, in the deep darkness, life flows according to its own beauty. The owners of these places are bats, and even rare species are found here. Wonderful helictites (stone flowers), stalactites, stalagmites, and crystals grow on the walls, adding a fairy-tale atmosphere to this place.

Immerse yourself in the world of myths and legends in the Atlantida Cave in Khmelnytskyi region.

According to legend, the cave was discovered due to another collapse that engulfed an ancient church. The locals were surprised when they noticed the mystical disappearance of the shrine. Gathering at the slope where the church once stood, people saw a huge collapse in front of them. But as the saying goes, "there is no harm without benefit," and this time it happened too. After studying the emptiness, people discovered gypsum deposits, which in turn gave rise to gypsum mining.
